What better way to start off our new year posts, than with a round up of our favourite recipes from 2016!
We’re back!! Happy New Year everyone, it doesn’t seem possible that it’s 2017 does it!
We hope you all had a wonderful festive period and a great start to the new year. We’ve been pretty quiet for the past few weeks thanks to a mix of illness and a heavy workload, but we’re back and excited for what 2017 will bring.
We thought we’d start the year with a quick look back at our most popular recipes from 2016. As always, we had so much fun creating our recipes last year and seeing what you all thought of them! At the beginning of the year, we always set challenges to see if we can achieve what we think are impossible when dealing with allergies.
One of our big challenges was to create a lemon drizzle cake that looked and tasted like a ‘normal’ cake. We published our recipe later on in the year, after being challenged by our lovely friend Vicki at The Free From Fairy. It used her fabulous flour! We were so pleased with the result, and the amazing feedback that we received from you all, especially as it proved to be very popular
Some of our other top viewed recipes included:
Our ever popular Thai Inspired Butternut Squash Soup – a delicious, healthy and comforting recipe which is perfect for the cold weather we’re currently experiencing. It’s also a great way of getting a big hit of nutrients into little ones too.
You can’t beat a good Chocolate ice cream and our indulgent yet extremely healthy version of a much loved classic was very popular back in the summer!
Dealing with multiple allergies doesn’t mean you have to miss out on treats and our Chocolate truffles proved to be a big hit. They’re also a great project that little ones can help make as presents too.
There seems to be a bit of a trend as our chocolate bites were also high up in our most viewed recipes. They’re perfect for those days when chocolate is the only answer. Luckily they’re healthy too!
If ever you need a pick me up, then our overloaded hot chocolate is definitely one to try! Hot chocolate is fab, but our take on the freakshake craze taking the foodie world by a storm has proven to be a big hit! It’s a whole load of craziness in a cup, and the more you pack it up, the better!
When it comes to meal times, it was our nomato pasta that won the day. It features our alternative tomato sauce (nomato sauce), which has been paired up with sausages and pasta for a comforting meal that everyone loves!
Breakfast options can often be overlooked, with us all ending up in the toast or cereal slump. Our waffles not only taste incredible, they also cater for most allergies too, and are always a crowd pleaser!
One of Callum’s all time favourite afternoon snacks is our blueberry loaf. Light and fluffy sponge, paired with fruity blueberries bursting with flavour, it was a big hit on the site!
And let’s not forget our chocolate mousse. This is our go to pudding, and one that Callum asks for time and time again and it’s easy to see why! It has proven to be very popular indeed!
So there we have it, our favourite recipes of 2016, although we could have added many more!
What are your favourite recipes and why? We’d love to hear your thoughts!
