Rasberry Milkshake - deliciously creamy milkshake made with fresh fruit, a2 Milk, and a little honey! Healthy, tasty and super easy to make! www.intolerantgourmand.com

What is #worldmilkday?

It was established back in 2001 by the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations to showcase the importance of milk as a food on a global scale. It celebrates the importance of milk on nutrition, amongst other things such as economic development, livelihoods and more.

What can milk do for you?

It’s good for you! No really, as long as you do not have an allergy or intolerance to dairy, then milk is and should be an important part of your diet. There’s a multitude of health benefits that it brings to the table:

  • It keeps your immune system healthy
  • It keeps your skin healthy
  • It’s full of calcium
  • It keeps your bones healthy

It’s also loaded with nutrients such as:

  • Protein – for muscle development, growth and repair
  • Vitamin B2 and B12 – to reduce fatigue/ tiredness
  • Phosphorous – works alongside calcium for strong teeth and bones
  • Potassium – for muscle function and hydration
  • Iodine – for healthy cognitive function

Chocolate Milkshake - deliciously creamy milkshake made with cocoa, fresh a2 Milk, and a little honey! Simple ingredients and super tasty! www.intolerantgourmand.com

Why a2 Milk?

a2 Milk is different to ‘normal’ milk in that it only contains a2 protein and no a1 protein. The farmers producing a2 Milk™ hand select cows that naturally produce only a2 protein and not a1, as you can read about here.

If you’ve ever experienced discomfort whilst consuming milk, such as:

  • Bloating
  • Cramping
  • Skin problems
  • Trouble digesting
  • Discomfort

Then a2 Milk could be for you!

I struggled with milk for years, as I suffer and have been formally diagnosed with IBS. When I first heard of a2 Milk I took their 4 week challenge to see if it would make a difference for me, and the results were incredible. It’s really helped me, stopped my symptoms, and even improved how I was feeling.

I’ve since created many recipes such as lasagne, red velvet gateaux, chocolate brownies, our ever popular overloaded hot chocolate, and even an IBS meal planner!
