It’s easy to buy shop bought spices, but sometimes it’s much nicer to make your own. My version of Pumpkin Spice Mix is always a winner!
At this time of year, there’s still an abundance of pumpkins, butternut squashes, apples, pears and more. And I really love using them in recipes, be it sweet or savoury.
One of my favourite sweet recipes is this Sweet & Vegan Pumpkin Cheesecake, which uses Pumpkin Spice Mix.
Now this mix is made up of just a few simple spices, but when they’re brought together, they are a taste sensation. It has this warm comforting flavour, and the beauty of it is that it enhances the taste of pumpkin and butternut squash in particular.
I also use it in my apple and pear crumbles, as a simple accompaniment to sugar biscuits, and it’s also a great addition to Pumpkin Latte.
A spice mix with this level of versatility, what's not to love!
The best bit is the speed at which you can make it. Just 5 minutes of your time, and you will have this delicious spice mix in your house.
You will need
- ¼ cup ground cinnamon
- 1tbsp ground allspice
- 4 tsp ground nutmeg
- 4 tsp ground ginger
Method
Add all of the spices to a bowl and stir until well combined.
Place in an air tight container, and it will keep for months.
Enjoy!
