This past week has been about raising as much awareness as possible about allergies!

It's quite fitting that in the middle of allergy awareness week, the awards ceremony for the Free-From Food Awards 2016 was held. I have been in the fortunate position of being a judge for the first time this year. It is a real privilege, and so exciting to see the products coming to market for the free-from world!
You can find out what it's like to be a judge in my write up here.
Jon doesn't normally come with me to work events as he has to work himself (he works shifts, so it's not always easy to coordinate). But, luck was on my side as he was on the early shift this week, which meant he was able to attend the awards with me.
Our lives have changed beyond measure due to the allergies Callum lives with, and now they are the focus for my job too. It was important for me to have Jon there, so that he can see first hand how the work we've done has helped others, and how our clients are evolving to create quite simply wonderful products!
Jon wasn't sure what to expect at the awards, but in his own words 'it was a really fun night, and inspiring to see quite how many products are now available, as well as meet the people behind them'. I couldn't agree more! We spent time with many other parents learning to live with allergies, and those a few years into the journey, such as the lovely Emma from Free-From Farmhouse, as well as a few of my clients, and also getting to meet some of the creators behind the delicious foods winning the awards.
I'll be writing a full review of the night shortly, but in the meantime, keep a look out for the little yellow stickers when you're out shopping, depicting shortlisted products, highly commended products, and of course, the winners!
